Purple Toad Winery wins 40-plus regional awards

November 02, 2015

Purple Toad Winery of Paducah, with its sweet to dry award-winning staples, has added to its collection of awards with more than 40 more from this year’s Wines of the South Competition and Kentucky Commonwealth Commercial Wine Competition.

Winegrowers Allen and June Dossey have submitted a selection of their finest wines for judging at the competitions and received multiple double gold, gold and silver medals for a variety of wines. “You know, I’m just like everybody. I enjoy winning,” Allen Dossey said. “That’s the fun part, but it does give you recognition from all over the state, which we’re excited to have.”

From the 2015 Wines of the South Competition the Dosseys received Fruit Wine of the Year for Black Peach; double gold for Black Currant, Black Peach, Lauren’s Blackberry and Paducah Peach; gold for Allen’s Blueberry, Black & Bruised, Killer B’s, Sangria and Steven’s Strawberry; and silver for their merlot.

From the 2015 Kentucky Commonwealth Commercial Wine Competition, they received a double gold for Sangria; gold for Paducah Blue, Allen’s Blueberry and Steven’s Strawberry, among others; silver for Paducah Peach, Black Shadow, Cranberry and Killer B’s, among others; and bronze for Paducah Harbor, merlot, chardonnay, moscato and cabernet sauvignon.
