Wineries that participate in Kentucky Grape and Wine Council grant programs (reimbursements) must report to the KGWC previous year’s number of gallons of wine produced (not bottled or sold) by variety and source (Kentucky or out of state) on an annual basis by January 1 of each year. Intentional failure to accurately report this information will prohibit a vineyard or winery from participating in any KGWC grant program for a period of three years.
The mission of the Kentucky Grape and Wine Council is to increase and enhance production by Kentucky growers and wineries. It has become evident that without accurate information concerning the varieties of grapes being bought and processed by wineries and the amount of annual wine production, the Council cannot make sound decisions aimed at increasing the amount of Kentucky grown grapes and wine.
Therefore the council is requiring wineries that receive cost share funds to submit information concerning their yearly production of wine by variety and source. The council is not interested in the amount of wine sold or the cost, only the amount produced on an annual basis. To make this easier we ask that wineries indicate the initial wine varieties produced prior to blending. When the council implements a vineyard cost share program we will require the vineyards to submit comparable information. Thank you for your assistance.
