Grape Glossary
Many grape varieties (cultivars) are grown in Kentucky and all types of grapes can be used to make wine. Quality of the wine is influenced by cultivar, fruit quality and the artistry of the winemaker.
In Kentucky, American grapes are the easiest to grow, while European grapes (vinifera) are the most challenging. American-French hybrid grapes are also successfully grown and used in the production of Kentucky wine.
